Happy Holidays!

What I’ve Been Up To, What’s Coming Up in 2023 & Well Wishes

Hello friends! I just realized how long it’s been since I wrote a blog post and I didn’t want the end of the year to come without checking in. Besides a quick update, I hope you enjoy these pictures that I’ve taken over the past weeks.

The fall has flown by and we are solidly in winter here in Germany. Our family has been spending time hiking and exploring the mountains together and soaking up what time we have here in Garmisch – Partenkirchen. We’re waiting to find out where our next assignment will take us, as we are still expecting to move in Summer 2023.

I’ve been working a lot on my writing. Being here in Germany has given me a lot of inspiration for sure. I’m constantly taking pictures and notes of what I see, hear, and find outdoors. I’ve also found some excellent resources – one in particular that I’d been searching for for awhile – yay!!! – and my research library has grown (can you really ever have too many research books?). All of the little details have helped me entrench my characters deeper into the landscape and history here, for which I am really thankful and eager to share with you.

The two books that I plan to publish in 2023 are almost fully researched and drafted, which is BEYOND exciting for me. The first is an untitled prequel, that focuses on the birth of the brotherhood found within THE KING’S SWORD, and the other is the sequel to TKS, working title (that I’m loving) –

THE LOCKED LETTERS.

It feels right, it really does. ❤

I’ve also been researching and outlining another book (and potential series) that will focus on one of my favorite side characters within the Metzlingen Saga. I hope to see this one in the world in 2024. Once I get on my editor’s calendar and send those drafts in, I’ll let you know! 🙂

Another fun thing I’ve taken on is to help plan the Historical Novel Society’s 2024 Conference in Dartington, UK. (The HNS North America 2023 conference is being held in San Antonio, TX. I’m looking forward to attending that one virtually – I learned so much at their last one!) I’ve been part of the HNS Author Interview Team for about a year and a half, so I’m excited to take on this new volunteer position. I really value the organization, what I’ve learned from them, and the friendships with other authors that I’ve made, so I’m looking forward to this opportunity. Will also share more about that when that goes live – woot! 🙂

I hope wherever you are, and however you plan to spend it, that your holiday season brings you rest and relaxation, quality time with those you love and/or your favorite things, joyful moments, and lasting memories. I hope you have a blessed 2023!

Sending you all my very best, Rebekah
